MULTIVAC automates sales process with camos product configurators

Multivac, a manufacturer of packing machines, announced on 01.02.2010, that they will be using camos product configurators to improve their sales process.  In the past, the quotation process would take many hours, which they have now shortened to thirty minutes by using rules based configurators.

The VDMA report provides nice insight into this product configurator project, but the pdf, a scanned document provided on the camos site, is in German and pretty grainy.

Multivac sees the benefits provide by product configurators as being:

  1. a centrally managed sales support tool which eliminates multiple regionally developed tools circulating in its sales regions,
  2. eliminates media breaks in the delivery of product configurations, thereby eliminating or reducing human error,
  3. direct entry of product configurator output into their ERP system,
  4. supports training of sales staff during new product launches and new hirings.
